Julia Butterfly Hill & The Circle of Life FoundationEver met a hero? I have. I remember seeing her on TV...in that tree -- thinking, "
Wow; why is she doing that?" Years later I met her at a friend's dinner (Thank you D!)...and was so inspired. Hearing of my garden projects, she encouraged me -- and here we are.
Julia Butterfly Hill has incredible integrity, energy and vision.
She'll inspire you, too. http://www.circleoflifefoundation.orgSpirituality & Healing:

Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga may be one of the most incredible journeys (from head to heart to body -- and beyond) you may ever take! When I do this practice (little by little!) things seem to drop away. Though conversely, Sri Patthabi Jois though, this way:
"Do the yoga and all is coming." http://www.ashtanga.comOmStyle Yoga
Stuart Siegel aka Yoga Daddy, and Ashtanga Yoga have benefitted my life in so many ways.
If you are in the Bay Area and would like to meet a superb, gentle teacher, I can't reccomend him highly enough. His resource links page alone is worth the visit.

This resource organization picked up the community gardening ball where the now-defunct S.L.U.G. finished -- and have done incredible work. An excellent resource for Bay Area community gardeners.

www.PrecitaEyes.orgWavy Gravy & Camp WinnarainbowWavy is living proof that life is magic. He passed on to me this Emerson quote:
"God laughs with flowers."
I'm betting Wavy laughs (and loves) a lot, so maybe when I grow little again I'll run away to his Circus. As Pee Wee puts it in PeeWee's Big Top Adventure, "When people don't want a circus, the world don't make much sense."
I'm not always sure about the world but I'm pretty sure about Wavy. His "Winnarainbow" Camp for children (and one for "big kids", too) has been going strong for 24 years: "We're not trying to turn out little professional actors and circus stars, although it does happen. What we're really into is producing universal human beings who can deal with anything that comes down the pike with some style and grace....They can usually do it on a unicycle while juggling three balls."
But why care? --Because education is EVERYTHING, and communicating to kids the intrinsic worth, diginity and joy within all beings is key to creating lasting Peace.
